Overview
- A prohibition speakeasy from 1919 to 1933 the "21 Club" is a New York institution
- Founded by Jack Kriendler and Charlie Berns, 21 is best known for its secret wine cellar, and inventive way of hiding/destroying liquor during Prohibition-era police raids
- Former New York Mayor Jimmy Walker had his own room in the wine cellar during the 1920s so that he could imbibe while federal agents searched for contraband
- Display of jockeys outside the wrought iron gates includes one donated in honor of America's most famous racehorse, Secretariat
