Sculpture
In addition to the three paintings discussed earlier, two Botero sculptures grace the restaurant. The first is the fertility goddess (seated woman), which previously sat in the garden among the 100-year-old pomegranate trees at Wing Lei Las Vegas. The second is on the terrace closest to the entry. Colombian artist Fernando Botero’s works are known to be larger than life -- and for being playful -- and the art at Botero is no exception. The fertility goddess is the focal point of the restaurant and is therefore seated in the middle of it, atop a platform above a sparkling dark pool that’s made even more luminous by small tiles that comprise it. Overhead are multiple spotlights surrounding the glass dome in the ceiling, which cast light that highlights her and dances off the water. Six tufted white leather columns surround the lady, who has a playful grin about her and obviously feels quite good about herself with all this attention. A striking, cone-shaped chandelier hangs above the sculpture and features black and gold beads that hang down from it. The chandelier culminates in a tassel, which adds yet another touch to the playful image that is Botero’s.
