Tortoise Shells and Open Air Separation from Lobby

Among the more striking decorative touches of the restaurant are the rows of oversized faux tortoise shells that adorn the walls. The shells range in color from white to beige to taupe to a dark brown. They evoke a sense of the beach and of the sea and just seem to capture the feeling of being in Florida. Another notable feature of the restaurant is arrangement of bleached coffee wood branches set in a cutout window between the restaurant and the lobby. This unique room divider adds to the feeling of privacy in the restaurant without the confinement of a solid wall.

Outdoor Dining

As mentioned above La Marea has both outdoor and indoor dining. When dining outdoors you have a clear view of all the activity on Ocean Drive and the Atlantic Ocean. Dining is several steps above street level, so you are not bothered by those who pass by on Ocean Drive, rather, you are simply provided with a view of the scene. Outside, you have your choice of directors type chairs, couches with large pillows or the Porter chairs and variations thereof. The ivory colored and wood umbrellas near the table provide a welcome respite from the hot Florida sun. Tables range from large round marble tables, to smaller marble tables for two to what look like large bronze drums that are incorporated into the open air lounge. The drum-shaped tables are ideal if you're just getting a cocktail or some appetizers. The entrance to the outdoor dining area is accented by live potted palm trees and well kept hedges enclose and divide the dining spaces on the terrace.
