Known as much for its notable owners as for its Hollywood A-list guests, the Beverly Hills Hotel is rich in history. Sold by Ivan and Seema Boesky to Marvin Davis, who in turn sold it to Sajahtera Inc, a subsidiary of the Brunei Investment Agency, this hotel has been the hotel of choice for countless celebrities, including Elizabeth Taylor, who stayed there during six of her eight honeymoons - obviously, she couldn't stay there during her honeymoon with Nicky Hilton - Howard Hughes, who had four bungalows at the hotel, and Marilyn Monroe, who stayed there while making Lets Make Love. Situated on 12 acres of lush tropical gardens, the Beverly Hills Hotel - known as "The Pink Palace" among locals - is a historical treasure. Symbolizing old Hollywood glamour, it's well known for its discretion, important for a hotel that's located just minutes from the Hollywood studios, Rodeo Drive and many of Beverly Hills' fine dining establishments.

Situated steps down from the hotel's main building is the Cabana Club Cafe and the luscious pool area. A hot spot for the famous to frolic, this area has also been a movie set: It had its moment in the limelight when it was used as a setting for Lauren Bacall and Gregory Peck's 1957 movie, Designing Woman. It's no wonder, either. At 66 feet by 33 feet, the pool is truly a beauty to behold. Heated to a lovely 82 degrees, it's even better to swim in than it is to look at. If you want something even hotter, though, there's a Jacuzzi that's heated to 103 degrees at the far end of the pool, next to which is a remarkable multi-tiered fountain that's flanked by topiary seahorses and flowers. Lounge chairs padded with green and white striped cushions surround the pool area and are three rows deep on the left side of the pool, as well as at the deep end.
