Twenty of Miami’s Top Chefs Create Edible Art Forms for Art Basel
 
‘Art Apetit’ Event Launches December 6 at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach

Twenty of Miami’s top chefs will push their creative boundaries by theatrically carving, cutting and building edible art forms -- masterpieces that they create in front of a cocktail party audience during special Art Basel evenings December 6, 7 and 8 at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach, Casa Décor and Karu & Y. All evenings are open to the public.

Art Apetit launches December 6 from 7-9 p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach with DiLido Beach Club Chef De Cuisine Jeff McInnis. The evening is concurrent with the fourth annual Master’s Mystery Art Show , where guests can scoop up 6x9-inch works of art by celebrities, and established and emerging artists for just $50 with all proceeds benefiting the Florida International University Masters in Fine Arts program.

The new, innovative Art Apetit Art Basel event, created by local Paradise Farms organic farmer Gabriele Marewski, is designed to make guests part of the “theatre of food” to captivate the senses and underscore the importance of presentation. Guests at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach will enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres while watching four chefs build their culinary masterpieces, some of which stand six feet tall and are almost entirely edible. Chef Jeff McInnis for example will use two 6-foot square glass pieces as his canvas and incorporate organic ingredients and liquid nitrogen to create one of his signature DiLido Beach Club salads.

In addition to Art Apetit and The Master’s Mystery Art Show, The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach has unveiled an Art Basel Ambassador to advise guests attending Art Basel about the best, most judicious way to navigate the often mind-boggling choices at the famed festival. An artist, art aficionado and concierge for 15 years, Art Basel Ambassador Noel Lanzas develops his own “Art Basel Bible” – a comprehensive book of all the planned activities art openings, showings, installations, exhibits and parties throughout Miami . Using catalogued information, first- hand festival experience and a guest’s personal preferences, the Art Basel Ambassador will create a personalized itinerary and road map for guests to enjoy the best of Art Basel, in addition to arranging private transportation, making hard-to-secure dining reservations and gaining entry into the most sought-after parties. He will additionally arrange tours of the hotel’s impressive multi-million dollar collection on permanent loan from Diana Lowenstein Fine Arts (an Art Basel exhibitor).
