The main ingredient may be nontraditional, but BLK EYE Vodka just earned several awards, including best traditional vodka at the Global Spirit Awards in Las Vegas.

Nine elite judges with more than 175 years of combined experience selected BLK EYE Vodka as the finest example of traditional vodka at the competition. They also awarded it a Double Gold Medal.

Distilled 22 times from Texas-sourced, non-GMO black-eyed peas and corn, BLK EYE Vodka is an ultra premium, uncommonly smooth vodka with minimal burn and a clean, subtle taste ideal for mixing or sipping.

“We approach distilling with an artisan’s commitment to craftsmanship, and it is an honor to have our process and the result of that process recognized at international competitions,” Scott Billings, master distiller and co-CEO, said.

BLK EYE Vodka also earned a Silver Medal at the recent New York World Wine & Spirits Competition, part of the Triple Crown of wine and spirits competitions and one of the largest competitions for the retail beverage industry in the world. This year marked the largest competition to date, with both established and new brands submitting entries.

The Fifty Best, a digital guide to wines and spirits that features rated listings from proprietary blind tastings judged by wine/spirits journalists, spirits professionals, retailers, mixologists, spirits consultants and connoisseurs, recently hosted a domestic vodka tasting. Judges evaluated 38 contenders for the distinguished Best Domestic Vodka awards for 2017, and BLK EYE Vodka was awarded a Gold Medal.

Finally, at the San Diego International Spirits Competition, BLK EYE Vodka was awarded a Silver Medal.

BlackEyed Distilling Co. opened earlier this year in a historic firehouse in Fort Worth, Texas, and BLK EYE Vodka is attracting attention for its bold vision and smooth finish.

BLK EYE Vodka is available in more than 100 restaurants and bars plus 115 liquor stores across Texas. It is easiest to find in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Lubbock areas, but the list of locations continues to grow – just in time for National Vodka Day on Oct. 4.

BLK EYE Vodka is also available at the distillery, which is open to the public for tastings, tours and special events, where the team is already preparing for a busy fall and holiday season with events and tastings – especially around New Year’s, when black-eyed peas are popular for their prosperity potential.
