Sojourn

Let the Good Times Roll While Your Taste Buds Take a One-of-a-Kind Food-and-Wine Journey

If you're looking for the latest happening place on New York’s Upper East Side, look no further because you'll find it at Sojourn, where the only thing more exciting than the excellent chef and the equally excellent chef’s table is the reasonably priced tasting menu. That's right. Executive Chef Peter Petti, formerly of Felidia -- Lydia Bastianich’s renowned Upper East Side restaurant -- and 11 Madison Park, has put together a six-course tasting at Sojourn for $60, or $85 with wine pairings. The result is a multicultural food-and-wine experience courtesy of Chef Petti’s global creations, which utilize the freshest seasonal ingredients and pair perfectly with Sojourn's accessible selection of wine, which is served both by the bottle and the glass. In fact, oenophiles will be glad to know that owner Stanton Du Toit personally supervises the restaurant's wine list, which he has created in order to showcase a nightly-changing selection of global wines that complements well the various regional cuisines served by Chef Petti. Thanks to its fabulous food and wine, Sojourn earns easy points for flavor and style. It also earns points for value, however, as the restaurant serves only one dish costing more than $18. Finally, if you want a happening bar at which to enjoy an after-dinner drink, you'll be glad to know that Sojourn’s hip music and “downtown uptown” feel create the perfect place to do exactly that. Neither staid nor stogy, Sojourn is decidedly fresh; so fresh, in fact, that the Upper East Side becomes a distant memory upon walking past the diaphanous drapery and lush foliage that decorate the restaurant's exterior. Sojourn has it all: authentic cuisine prepared by an inspired chef with culinary roots from Johnson and Wales, 11 Madison Park and Felidia, a global wine list, a happening bar and prices to meet your budget. What else could one ask for? Sojourn is clear perfection.
