Appealing Highlights

The walls at Strip House are filled with a diverse collection of black and white photographs that were saved from the restaurant’s previous life, when it was known as Asti. Asti’s proprietors used to collect autographed photos of opera singers such as Luciano Pavarotti, Mario Lanza and Joan Sutherland, who signed their headshots in exchange for a free meal, along with photos of famous customers like Babe Ruth, Noel Coward and Arturo Toscanini. These photographs have graced the walls since 1925 and are still in pristine condition. When the Glaziers took over the space and opened Strip House, they added their own special touch: photographs from Studio Manasse that were taken during the golden age of cinema and caberet in Vienna during the 1920s and 1930s. The husband-and-wife team of Adorjan and Olga Wlassics, owners of Studio Manasse, were known for their erotic imagery. Long before Photoshop they used retouching techniques to create their own erotic, noir-style photographs, noted for their glamorous styling and extravagant fashion (with what clothes were on!). Their work was displayed in countless European magazines.

Strip House takes traditional steakhouse fare and turns it on its head. Normal creamed spinach, for instance, is truffled creamed spinach at Strip House and potatoes are fried in goose fat. Even bread is special thanks to its own unique accompaniment; instead of French bread served simply with butter, Strip House serves warm garlic bread with gorgonzola fondue! Indulgence is truly at its best at Strip House, where a simple chocolate cake becomes a superb 24-layer chocolate cake! If all that sounds too rich, there are a number of salads available, including Caesar, Bibb Lettuce, Roasted Golden Beets with Grilled Asparagus and, in keeping with the indulgence theme, a Strip House Roasted Bacon Salad with Russian Dressing. The decadence just keeps on coming!
