Pond of Koi
In yet another nod to authentic Asian influences, Tao's main dining showcases an infinity pool filled with koi, commonly referred to as Japanese carp. Koi were developed in Japan in the 1820s and continue to thrive today, as they are considered a symbol of love and friendship. Several varieties of koi swim throughout Tao's pond, in vibrant color combinations of white, gold, orange, red and black. Spotlights highlight their appearance, which is made even more dramatic by the smooth black stones resident at the bottom of the pool. Although this sight conveys an image of tranquility, don't get us wrong: The restaurant is just as happening and boisterous as the nightclub. Just, please, don't feed the fish! The restaurant has that part all taken care of.
