Comfort Zone

Tocqueville’s beautiful decor and two-story dining room provide a breathtaking first impression. Breathtaking needn’t be nerve wracking, though. Provided you know some basic information about the restaurant before you enjoy your meal, it can be exhilarating. For that reason, following is some pertinent information to help you navigate the waters at Tocqueville.

Reservations
Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling the restaurant directly or on OpenTable.com.

Seating
Seating is generous with tables that are 36 inches square -- generously spaced -- and chairs that are about 18 inches in diameter at their widest point. Chairs are also comfortable, as they are upholstered at the bottom with a woven, velour-type fabric. Also available are corner banquettes and armless sofas that are strategically placed throughout the dining room. If you’re not in the mood for the more formal dining room, the less formal bar area is available for dining.

Atmosphere
The atmosphere is elegant without pretense. Tables are generously spaced and every attention to detail is made. For example, wine decanters are different, yet just as elegant, at every table. The two-story dining room could be intimidating, but instead is inspiring and lets diners have an intimate feel in a much larger space.

Restrooms
The restrooms at Tocqueville are in the restaurant and on the same level as the dining room.

Dress Code
The dress code is business casual.

Parking
Tocqueville is easily accessible by taxi, subway or car. If you choose to drive, you can attempt to find parking on the street, or at one of the variety of parking garages nearby. Spots on the street are few and far between, however.

Awards
Tocqueville has been the recipient of a number of distinguished awards, including: 2006 Distinguished Restaurants of North America Award, 2004 Star Diamond Award (American Academy of Hospitality Service) and the 2002 Wine Spectator Award.

*Please note that the restaurants featured at TravelsinTaste.com may have changed their personnel, menu, pricing, decor, hours of operation, etc., since our last visit. The competitive and creative nature of the fine dining scene virtually assures that changes will occur on a frequent basis in order to make diners happier, meals more pleasurable and visits more frequent. Given their frequent fluctuations, most restaurants welcome inquiries about their current hours, menu and more.
