Off the lobby of the swank Beverly Hills Hotel lies the restaurant of legends, the Polo Lounge, where starlets, stars and dealmakers all attempt to make their dreams come true. Both the hotel and the Polo Lounge are rich in history. Sold by Ivan and Seema Boesky to Marvin Davis, who in turn sold it to Sajahtera Inc., a subsidiary of the Brunei Investment Agency, The Pink Palace has been the hotel of choice for many high-profile guests, including Elizabeth Taylor, who stayed there during six of her eight honeymoons - obviously, she couldn't stay there during her honeymoon with Nicky Hilton - Howard Hughes, who had four bungalows at the hotel, and Marilyn Monroe, who stayed there while making Let's Make Love. Situated on 12 acres of lush tropical gardens, it symbolizes old Hollywood glamour.

The Polo Lounge itself has an equally interesting pedigree; the restaurant was a frequent watering hole for Will Rogers and Darryl Zanuck, for instance, which you can read more about in our "Appealing Highlights" section. On any given day, during any given meal, you might actually witness Hollywood history in motion, be it a picture deal, a studio merger or some other business dream turning into celluloid reality. Just don't expect the servers to tell you about who is sitting in the booth across the room, or what's happening at the table beside it; they are as discrete as the day is long.
