Located in Wynn Las Vegas, far enough from the casino floor that gambling seems like a distant memory, lies Wing Lei. When you reach its entrance, you'll feel like you've stepped out of Vegas and into French-influenced Shanghai. Gold colored urns sit on each side of the entryway atop three-quarter-height stone walls. Meanwhile, two red pendant lights form a trapezoidal pattern above them on each side, with gold-colored bases and folds like a fan. "Wing Lei" is emblazoned in both Chinese and English above the brass-framed glass door, which is even more elaborate thanks to the wavy pattern that decorates the glass and the door handle. Two framed menus hang on the stone wall to the right; during Chinese New Year you’re likely to miss them, as you’ll probably be mesmerized instead by the kumquat trees with red money envelopes that always decorate the main entrance at this time of year. The entire scene pays homage to the Asian belief that red symbolizes luck and gold luck and luxury, and Wing Lei is certainly lavish from décor to cuisine.

It’s appropriate, because upon opening the doors your journey into early French-influenced Shanghai begins. Your entry point is the bar, which is toward your immediate right. It’s a striking white onyx-topped bar with seating for six in tall, low-backed armless chairs, Its base displays a luminous sunset hue with marbleized brown accents. Two golden urns sit on the bar, one on each side, just like the ones at the entrance. Behind it, meanwhile, are two recesses in the wall in the shape and color of the aforementioned urns, but larger and inverted. Another nod to luxury and luck, each of these holds two shelves of premium liquors. While the bar is toward the right, toward the left of the room is a textured opaque screen framed in brass. In front of it are several small tables with flowers and a small, cream-colored chair; behind it are the restrooms. This room is very intimately lit and the floors are highly polished, not carpeted, so please watch your step. Immediately past the bar there is an elaborate arched entrance framed in gold that’s surrounded on each side by deep red, velvety curtains. The curtains are pulled back with tasseled cords and through them you’ll find the main dining room as well as several private dining options.
