Trina Restaurant and Lounge

Creative Cuisine That's Served Both In and On the Atlantic

Trina Restaurant and Lounge -- which is situated on the Atlantic ocean, within Fort Lauderdale's Atlantic Resort and Spa -- has one of the swankiest lounges on the beach. With its rich wood, dark leather, stainless steel and sapphire blue lighting, one can't help but feel attracted to its fun, contemporary allure. It doesn't stop with the lounge, either, as this is not your typical Mediterranean restaurant. It's so much more. Trina has floor-to-ceiling views of the Atlantic, for instance, both indoor and outdoor dining, and even an open kitchen where you can witness Executive Chef Brian Kay producing his exotic creations. Interestingly enough, those exotic creations are united beneath one very unique symbol: the Sicilian flag. Because their cuisine spans the Mediterranean, it was hard for the restaurant's creators to find a single, unifying image to represent it all. They found one, however, in the Sicilian flag, which contains a three-legged Medusa; each leg represents one of the three seas that touch Sicily -- the Mediterranean, the Ionian and the Tyrrhenian. Because the restaurant's cuisine is influenced by all the lands that surround these seas, its creators named it Trina, short for "Trinkakria," which is the name for the Sicilian flag's distinctive Medusa symbol.
