Sake Tower
From the minute you walk in to the restaurant your eyes will be drawn to the tower of sake barrels suspended, six wide, above the back of the bar. It is rumored these are Nobu's own sake barrels, but with the traditional labels repainted. The bar is backlit, which provides for a very dramatic presentation. The barrels are primarily in shades of white and brown, and are decorated with beautiful Japanese calligraphy on them. There are multiples barrels on each supporting rope.
In addition to the dramatic sake barrel collection hanging above, there are several other highlights to the restaurant. As mentioned prior, there is an upstairs private dining room with a ceiling made of sea urchin shells. There's also a hibachi room enclosed by dark terrazzo walls with embedded bamboo "bubbles." The room itself has separate hibachi stoves so each of the guests can cook their own meal. And, just in case, there's a window to the kitchen so the chefs can keep an eye on the erstwhile future chefs!
