EDITOR'S NOTE: THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW CLOSED
As Dorothy said in The Wizard of Oz: There's no place like home. That's exactly what the staff believes at the Palazzo in Las Vegas, much to its credit. It's no surprise, then, that the resort has welcomed the Woo family -- a culinary name that's native to the Vegas scene -- to the Palazzo, where Woo, like the ruby slippers, is a veritable gem. Its owner, Ming See Woo, Matriarch of the Woo dynasty, is no stranger to Las Vegas Asian cuisine, as she brought California-style fusion cooking to Las Vegas some 30 years ago. Since then, Ming See and son Peter -- previously executive chef at Nobu in Las Vegas for six years -- have collaborated to create Woo Restaurant. One of a few local restaurant groups invited to build inside a major Las Vegas resort, Woo is a true family affair, as family members Theresa and Tony round out the on-site crew as manager and assistant manager, respectively. Palazzo owners Sheldon Adelston and Rob Goldstein, longtime customers of another Woo family restaurant, Mayflower Cuisinier, have made an excellent choice in bringing Woo Restaurant into their happening resort, where it's in the company of concepts designed by such notables chefs as Charlie Trotter, Wolfgang Puck and Emeril Lagasse. Emong those big names, Woo certainly holds its own. If you try it, you won't be disappointed!
