From the minute you step off Third Avenue and open the richly hued door into Vong, you are transported to an exotic Asian paradise. The red color, which is so abundant in the dining room, symbolizes luck and happiness in various parts of Asia, according to some. Yellows, pinks, salmons, oranges, greens and golds also accent the room, making for a very warm - and distinctively Asian - atmosphere.

When you first enter the restaurant, you'll notice the bar directly ahead of you and a Buddah in the middle of it that's smiling back at you. Above the bar is a warm and inviting wooden composition, similar to the wood of the doors when you come in. Near your seats is a luminous metallic structure upon which the bar actually sits.

To your left is a large, green, leafy plant, one of many that are placed strategically throughout the restaurant. To the right of the bar is the hostess station, and behind that a coat check. The bar area not only has seats at the bar, but also tables for dining; you can sit on a salmon hued couch or have a little more support on the red chairs that adorn both the bar and the dining room. Reddish/salmon pendant lighting hangs from the ceiling, and there are a variety of unique torchiere combination fan/lights that keep the bar area both cool and lit.
