Comfort Zone
CarneVino is an Italian Steakhouse that's reminiscent of an elegant Italian villa. If you'd care to know a bit more about it before you enter the dramatic space, such as where to sit, please read on and maximize your dining enjoyment.

    Reservations
Reservations are strongly recommended, although the restaurant does accept walk-ins, just in case you win it big at craps or simply pass by and want to enjoy the fine dining experience. It's reassuring, however, to know that when you have a reservation, a table is waiting for you.

Seating
On our first visit to CarneVino, the actual chairs had not arrived yet; they were in transit from Italy to Las Vegas. The original chairs were about 16 inches at their largest diameter, without arms and totally comfortable. Since then we've noticed on subsequent visits that the new chairs have arrived. They are even more comfortable than the originals. These are high-backed, hand-crafted, caramel-colored leather chairs with an upholstered back and dark wood frames; again they are armless and completely cozy. Tables are generously spaced.

Atmosphere
The atmosphere at CarneVino is similar to that of an Italian villa; it's airy and beautiful with music playing throughout the evening. With dark wood floors and beige walls that are finished with a sponge painting technique, the space is truly elegant, made even more so by 16-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows with diaphanous drapes. Tables, which are either square or rectangular, are graciously spaced. Carts are spaced throughout the restaurant, housing glasses, cheeses and olive oil and serving as tableside decanting stations for red wine. It's elegant without pretense. If that's not your style, however, and you want to be closer to the action, you can sit in the bustling bar and lounge area, where you can watch the action on the casino floor. Otherwise, try a private or semiprivate dining option, both of which are available.

Restrooms
The restrooms are located outside of the restaurant; they're off the casino floor, yet close to the restaurant and on the same level.

Dress Code
The dress code is casual. In our multiple visits, we've noticed the unwritten code to be more along the lines of business casual than strictly casual.

Parking
Gratis valet parking is available at The Palazzo, as is gratis self-parking.

Awards
Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich have won many awards. Considering that CarneVino has only been open since January 2008, however, it hasn't yet earned its own honors. Still, we're sure there will be many in its future. Mario Batali has been named "Man of the Year" in the Chef Category by GQ Magazine in 1999 and was one of the recipients of the D'Artagna Cervena Who's Who of Food and Beverage in America, a lifetime achievement award. He was also named Best Chef New York City in 2002 and Outstanding Chef of the Year in 2005 by the James Beard Foundation. Bastianich, meanwhile, is also a James Beard Foundation winner, having received the Foundation's Outstanding Wine and Spirits Professional Award in 2005, along with Bon Appetit's Wine and Spirits Professional Award that same year.

*Please note that the restaurants featured at TravelsinTaste.com may have changed their personnel, menu, pricing, decor, hours of operation, etc., since our last visit. The competitive and creative nature of the fine dining scene virtually assures that changes will occur on a frequent basis in order to make diners happier, meals more pleasurable and visits more frequent. Given their frequent fluctuations, most restaurants welcome inquiries about their current hours, menu and more.
